  • Clean out the primer pocket

Do I need to clean out the primer pocket? Prevent misfires caused by the primer not seating fully prevent misfires caused by the primer not seating fully.

Yes, you do if you want to get the best accuracy out of your rifle. You want consistent ignition from the primer each time. This requires that the primer be fully seated in the pocket.

Excessive build up in the primer pockets usually causes a high primer and in a semi-auto it can cause a slam fire. I usually clean pockets about every 3-4 firings.
