  • Impromptu M70

Decided to put together a USMC M70 inspired build. Not an exact clone, but close enough for me.

    Build sheet:
    - 1950 Winchester Model 70 target rifle barreled action
    - Original Pre 64 straight comb stock + rod from a Swiffer + sandpaper + elbow grease + boiled linseed oil
    - OG Old Skool commercial Unertl 10X target scope

    Great work, it looks outstanding!
I would be proud to take that to the range

      Lets see some groups!
"...But they would never find anything to beat the old Springfield ...the long sleek streamline, very slim but with potent bulges, all in the just exactly right places to give it that pugnaciously forward-leaning, eager look that marked the Springfield. Beside it, the M1 looked like a fat old man puffing with a lack of training...the two most beautiful things made in America were the ax-handle and the clipper ship? ...they should have added one more thing: The Springfield '03 rifle..."

When parts come up for sale that make one’s build that much more correct, one has to get ‘em. Lucked out on an original set of anodized Unertl mounts. I like that golden green patina!

Still working on it. Match 30-06 ammo is kinda hard to get a hold of right now...

The CMP Lapua 167 Scenar in Lapua brass shoots well in these..............
