Well, from what I have seen, the USMC guns had two site rails welded together, to lengthen it, and then a picatinny rail mounted on top. Now whether this was modified after the war, or before Desert storm, I don;t know, but I think most if not all the early USMC guns had this type of scope rail set-up at some point.

I read that the additional scope rail was welded on about 1995 or so, for night vision.
