  • Smear to forest stock ratio

Ive been looking at alot of pictures lately of in service A1's. It seems like there are alot more smear, semi smear patterns then the forest. Anyone have any input on this? When did the forest patterns start to come out?

First of all, "forest" is a color scheme, not a pattern. All the stocks are predominantly Forest. Some (from what I've heard) are Woodland, but they were rare, if they existed at all.

The smear/semi-smear gave way to the solid, or blotch pattern when the pigments changed. According to Dick Davis that was around 1977. So, any C or E receiver that was not replacing a six digit action would likely have been paired with a new solid pattern stock.
You can take a Marine out of the Corps, but you can't take the Corps out of a Marine.

If no other way, contact him thru his eBay listings, I purchased one of his Unertl 10x repair kits last month, will buy another soon, as he seems to be downsizing his offerings thru eBay.......
