  • M40’s in the “field” pic thread

Alright guys, lets see those M40’s in the “field”. Pictures of you hunting, target shooting and competing with your M40’s. While i continue to save money and collect parts here and there for mine, i need to keep up the motivation buy vicariously living theough you all

Hm...I don't have much for pictures of mine for some reason, this is when I first got it together and zeroed the scope.
Its a budget build: New Remington SPS, old police stock I made into an M40 style, short bolt shroud, dual sear trigger. I'm on the fence as to if I'm going to go ahead and have the work done to the receiver or if I want to get a 6 digit receiver and make a more correct build.

Not exactly "in the field", but here's my M40 replica with some period gear that I had staged for my XM21 replica (so please don't give me grief due to the M14 bayonet, M14 mag pouches and US Army pouch seen in this pic...I was just trying to create a visually interesting picture with my M40 replica with Vietnam era field gear.) My rifle was one of the Chuck Mawhinney tribute rifle "overruns" from 3 or 4 years ago.

Here's my M40 replica on the left at a Quantico Vintage Rifle match circa 2016. Shooting partner that day was using a Russian made Draganov (one of the last imported in 1994). This is Range 4 at 800 yard berm. Good times.

How did the Draganov do? Can it hold minute of man?

Here's my M40 clone. A friend is sighting it in for me at his range. I'm fairly new to scopes. Have always been a irons kinda guy.

Is that a buttpad on that stock? It looks different.

Almost looks like one of those slip on grenade launcher pads for an 03A3.

What would be odd is that Ive never seen a picture of one being used with an 03 but here it is on a 40?

I think Im going to get a pass next month to visit a friend going through some family issues. Hoping to take this rifle and get in the woods for some snow shoeing or hiking over land - just walking the woods while carrying a rifle.

"...But they would never find anything to beat the old Springfield ...the long sleek streamline, very slim but with potent bulges, all in the just exactly right places to give it that pugnaciously forward-leaning, eager look that marked the Springfield. Beside it, the M1 looked like a fat old man puffing with a lack of training...the two most beautiful things made in America were the ax-handle and the clipper ship? ...they should have added one more thing: The Springfield '03 rifle..."

I had this one saved, but I can't now recall who this is..., anyone know?; maybe Hathcock's partner?
