Nice! I just acquired a pre-64 Model 70 target rifle that I topped off with a Unertl target scope. The setup looks exactly like yours! Haha.

Looks like I may have a 2nd cousin of your rifle

I have been waiting to add to this thread for sometime. I recently finished a project that was started earlier this year. I was able to make quite a few new friends along the way with this build. The scope that is going to stay on this one should arrive soon. I would like to get thoughts from the majority on whether I should keep the simrad cap on this one or put it on a different one. Anyways wanted to say thanks to the friends that helped along the way. You know who are.

        DeepC, very impressive.
It appears the tool marks from tapering the barrel were not smoothed out on the barrel.
On mine, from the muzzle to about 3" past the recoil lug the tool marks from tapering are visible.
I'm very okay with it but wanted to ask if that's common.

If I am deciphering what you are saying correctly and not taking this as a way to sling shade, The muzzle and threading were performed at PWS. How common is it? Unsure. The tooling marks are visible with the exception of the area where the barrel vice made contact. I have never seen a Schneider that was smooth. (I am looking at a half dozen of them now). It was my understanding that between the bead blasting and the tooling marks was a way for the bluing (and paint) to adhere. I could be completely wrong. This is number two and number three is being started as we
speak. I am very happy with the end product as you would be hard pressed to find another like it. Original painted, stocks, mounts and scopes are rare to come by these days.I am blessed to be able to have the package and to have the paperwork and book to back it up. Finding everything and keeping the details correct are all part of the fun.

Not at all, just curious about the tool marks. My Schneider is similar.
        Thanks

The dots look to be more round but it is hard to tell when comparing to my others.

I don't know why this website does it. I sometimes have to just rotate it 360 on the file and reload it and it usually works. Looks like a beautiful morning for sure!
